So, how about an update on the Guitar Experiment?
I've been playing a looooot. A lot a lot. Probably 10-12 hours in the last week. It's pretty amazing how much you'll give to something you want to do for the sake of doing it. I've found that anytime I decided to do something for any other reason, it was impossible. Like when I decided I was going to become an Eagle Scout just so I could get into a better college. Yuh. Two and a half years later I decided I wanted to feel it, I wanted to do it for the sake of doing it, and bingo, five months later it was done.
That was always the problem with playing music to be a "well rounded person". I never wanted to. I'd "practice" for 30 minutes and stop. Skip a couple days, you know. Now I look up and I'm like "Wow, it's been two hours?" It's great!
Another odd thing I've found is that I'm beginning to desire to learn more about music. You might remember, I could never, ever get into music theory. I hated it. Now it's becoming applicable, like, I want to learn some scales, some rudiments, kinda get into the lettered side a bit more. It really can help. But as soon as you try studying music theory because it will make you a "better musician" it'll never work. As far as music goes, if you want to get better, you have to feel it, and as far as theory goes, you have to want it with your heart and not with your head.
